God's Twin Manifestations Predicted by All Faiths: The Bab and Baha'u'llah

*The Bab

Spiritually, 1844 was the year that the Bab proclaimed himself as God’s lesser Twin Manifestation predicted by the Scriptures of all Faiths as:
• Judaism's Messiah Ben Yosef and Return of Elijah
• Zoroastrianism's Hushidar Door of Wisdom
Hinduism’s Vishnu Yash Ninth Avatar
Buddhism’s Fourth Buddha
Christianity’s Return or Second Coming of Jesus
Sunni Islam’s Guided Mahdi, and
Shi’i Islam’s Raised Qa’im.[1]
Born in AD 1819 in Shiraz, Persia, the Bab was a merchant who lived an exemplary personal life. His title the Bab means Door or Gate. He taught new spiritual truths and spoke out against injustices by the Qajar regime and Shi'i clergy of Persia. His claims and teachings got him sentenced to prison where he wrote his central Scripture the Bayan (Exposition), which focused on heralding the greater Twin Manifestation soon to follow him. He was sentenced to death and was executed by firing-squad in Tabriz in 1850.
Over ten thousand people watched his execution, including Europeans reporting it back home. The 750–man squad fired, but after the smoke had cleared no body was seen. The Bab was found back in his cell, alive and unscathed, finishing a final dictation that had been rudely cut short before. The firing-squad asked to be excused. The new squad was mustered and did kill him a few hours later.2] Followers hid his remains, then brought them from Persia to Haifa in 1899–1900. They were buried on Mount Carmel on March 21 1909, near the cave of the first Elijah, as predicted by the Zohar:
The king of Persia will…kill…Messiah Son of Joseph, who will remain dead until…he will gather life from the higher hill…in the year 66. He will appear in the land of Galilee and as a star from the east will swallow up seven stars.[3]
This higher hill interprets as Mount Carmel, the year 66 as the Jewish year AM 5666 or AD 1906 (almost 1909), the star from the east as the Bab, and seven stars as the seven Messengers of God’s Cycle of Prophecy.
The Bab was a lot like Jesus:
He was raised a devout Muslim as Jesus had been raised a devout Jew
He worked as a merchant as Jesus had worked as a carpenter
He proclaimed himself aged only twenty-four as Jesus had proclaimed himself aged only thirty
He taught for only six years (1844-1850) as Jesus had taught for only three years (AD 30–33)
His teachings enraged Persia’s Qajar regime and imams as Jesus’s teachings had enraged Israel’s Roman regime and rabbis
He was executed aged only thirty, as Jesus had been executed aged only thirty-three
He was executed at a Persian military barracks, as Jesus had been executed near a Roman military barracks
He was pierced by firing-squad bullets, as Jesus had been pierced by crucifixion nails
His disciples were all martyred, as Jesus’s Apostles had all (except John) been martyred.
Baha’u’llah
The Bab was a Manifestation of God in his own right with his own Babi Era.But he was also the lesser of Twin Manifestations heralding Baha’u’llah as the greater Manifestation of God. Hereby the Bab was John the Baptist…another time whose
Bayan deriveth all its glory from Him Whom God shall make manifest.…‌All that hath been revealed in the Bayan is but a ring upon My hand, and I Myself am, verily, but a ring upon the hand of Him [Baha’u’llah].Were he to appear this very moment, I would be the first to adore Him, and the first to bow down before Him.
Baha’u’llah concurs, saying that
the sole object of whatsoever My Previous Manifestation [the Bab]hath revealed hath been My Revelationas his Latter Manifestation…whereof He hath made mention in His Tablets, and in His Books, and in His Scriptures.[4]
The brief Babi Era lasted just the 19 years from AD 1844 to 1863 (BE 1–19) before it inexorably merged into the Baha’i Era of Baha’u’llah, which was
at hand in less than the twinkling of an eye. That so brief an interval separated this most mighty and wondrous Revelation from Mine…is…a mystery such as no mind can fathom…its duration…foreordained.[5]
In other words, the interval was minute compared with the usual gap of a thousand years between advents of Messengers of God. The Bab and Baha’u’llah exchanged letters but never met.
Though Baha’u’llah followed the Bab, he spiritually raised up the Bab as the One Who announced him.6] By 1848, the leadership of Baha’u’llah was already being recognized by his fellow Babis. For example, they and the imprisoned Bab took the names assigned to the Bab’s first eighteen disciples by Baha’u’llah.[7]
In 1863, the Most Mighty Bell8] Baha’u’llah rang in the Baha’i Faith by proclaiming himself as God’s greater Twin Manifestation predicted by the Scriptures of all Faiths as:
Judaism’s Messiah Ben David and Ancient of Days
Zoroastrianism’s Shah Bahram and Saoshant Bearer of Benefit
Hinduism’s Kalki Tenth Avatar
Buddhism’s Maitreiya Fifth Buddha and Amitabha Glory of the Infinite
Christianity’s Appearance of the Father
Sunni Islam’s Muhdi Guider
Shi’i Islam’s Qayyum Raiser, and
His own Babi Faith’s One Whom God shall make manifest.[9]
In other words, Baha’u’llah was
to Israel…neither more nor less than the incarnation of the ‘Everlasting Father,’ the ‘Lord of Hosts’ come down ‘with ten thousands of saints’; to Christendom Christ returned ‘in the glory of the Father’;to Shí’ah [sic] Islám the return of the Imam Husayn; to Sunni Islám the descent of the ‘Spirit of God’ (Jesus Christ); to the Zoroastrians the promised Shah-Bahram; to the Hindus the reincarnation of Krishna; to the Buddhists the fifth Buddha.[10]
Born in AD 1817 in Teheran, Baha’u’llah was a nobleman who lived an exemplary personal life. His title Baha’u’llah means Glory of God. He spent forty years expanding the teachings of the Bab, furthering his spiritual truths, and speaking out against injustices in Persia and across the Middle East and globe.
The lineage of Baha’u’llah was noble and prophetic. He was a
descendant of Abraham through both Katurah [sic] and Sarah, namely through a son of his other than Isaac and Ishmael, from his wife Katurah. There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots applies word for word to Baha’u’llah, who was the Pre-Existent Rooton the line of Judah via David. Jesse, son of Sarah, was the father of David and the ancestor of Baha’u’llah. Baha’u’llah’s connection with the Faith of Judaism…is a tremendous and fascinating theme…which possesses great interest to Jew and Christian alike. Furthermore, Baha’u’llah also derived his descent…from Zoroaster, as well as from the last Sasaniyan king Yazdigird.[11]
Amid Persia’s 1852 anti-Babi persecutions, Baha’u’llah was arrested on false charges and incarcerated in Teheran’s Black Pit. In this subterranean dungeon his mission was born12] through a vision of a Maid of Heaven promising:
We shall render Thee victorious by Thyself and by Thy Pen. Grieve Thou not for that which hath befallen Thee, neither be Thou afraid, for Thou art in safety. Erelong will God raise up the treasures of the earth—men who will aid Thee through Thyself and through Thy Name.[13]
Four months later Baha’u’llah was declared innocent. But the Persian government feared his influence, stripped him of his title and wealth, and exiled him and his family to Baghdad, under its ally Ottoman Turkey. Over eight years in Baghdad and two alone in Kurdistan, the fame of Baha’u’llah grew further. Pressed by Persia, Turkey took forty-five year old Baha’u’llah farther into Turkey itself. On his way out of Baghdad in 1863, Baha’u’llah proclaimed himself and his mission to his followers. Then he was first taken to Istanbul, then to Adrianople a few months later, then sailed to perpetual imprisonment in Palestine’s notorious prison colony of Acco (Akko, Acre) in 1868. He remained in Acco, under steadily easing conditions, until dying in 1892.

For Baha’is, 1863 (AH1280), the year of Baha’u’llah’s proclamation is as important as 1844. In 1863 the ‘thousand two hundred and ninety days’, fixed by Daniel…elapsed, dated from the AD 613 (10 BH) proclamation of the prophethood of Muhammad. Then its 1963 centennial
brought into fulfillment Daniel’s great prophecy of…1335 days. What could be more wonderful than taking part in the fulfillment of religious prophecy! This blissful consummation (1335 days) announced by Daniel took place after a century…elapsed from the dawn of the Sun of Truth, with the Teachings of God…firmly established upon the earth and the spread of the Faith over the face of the earth.
These 1335 days of years were reckoned as solar and not lunar years, dating from Muhammad’s founding AD 628 Hudaybiyyah peace treaty to the 1963 \founding of the Baha’i House of Justice (628 + 1335 = 1963).[14]
The Tombs of Baha’u’llah and the Bab
In 1892, Baha’u’llah died at the age of seventy-five, just outside Acco. His tomb, set amid magnificent gardens, is the holiest site of the Bahá'í Faith.

Yet the tomb of Baha’u’llah is modest compared to the tomb of the Bab that Baha’u’llah instructed to be prominently set on the wonderful efflorescence of Mount Carmel, as the Queen of Carmel enthroned on God’s Mountain crowned in glowing gold, robed in shimmering white, girdled in emerald green, enchanting every eye from air, sea, plain and hill.15] The tomb of the Bab is
THE CENTER OF NINE CONCENTRIC CIRCLES around which the realities of the Prophets and Messengers revolve.…The outermost [9th] circle in this vast system, the visible counterpart of the pivotal position conferred on the Herald of our Faith, is…the…planet. Within the heart of this planet lies the ‘Most Holy Land’, acclaimed by ‘Abdu’l-Baha as the ‘Nest of the Prophets’…the center of the world and the Qiblih of the nations [8th circle]. Within this Most Holy Land rises the Mountain of God [7th circle]…the Vineyard of the Lord, the Retreat of Elijah, Whose return the Báb Himself symbolizes. Reposing on the breast of this holy mountain are the extensive…precincts of the Báb’s holy Sepulcher [6th circle]. In the midst…the most holy court [5th circle]…comprising gardens and terraces which at once embellish, and lend a peculiar charm to, these sacred precincts. Embosomed in these lovely and verdant surroundings stands in all its exquisite beauty the mausoleum of the Báb [4th circle]…the tomb of the Martyr-Herald of our Faith. Within this shell is enshrined that Pearl of Great Price…the tomb itself [3rd circle].…Within the heart of this holy of holies is the tabernacle [2nd circle], the vault wherein reposes the most holy casket within which rests the alabaster sarcophagus [1st circle] in which is deposited that inestimable jewel, the Báb’s holy dust.[16]
